Unfortunately really bored and not at all interested in continuing reading in case it gets better. Maybe it should've remained a stand alone?
Nah. A lot of this book consists of one-dimensional characters being annoying, mostly bickering with one another. Yes, it's supposed to be a sort of lighter-side-of sci-fi but the same old shtick from the previous book has become boring.

This one was much more plot driven than the last. There was much less in depth character/philosophical exploration (beyond what the underlying premise of this series invites naturally).
That’s not to say that I didn’t enjoy this one, the plot was gripping and somewhat satisfying (confusing morally but it ended satisfyingly I think?). I do prefer a more character driven approach however.
That being said I really appreciate Ashton’s writing, it’s funny yet believable and serious enough to remain engaging. I really like the way he introduces us to concepts and builds the world. We don’t have to sit through pages of forced dialogue or unbelievable scenarios that act as exposition, it feels natural and makes it much more immersive for me. I intend on reading more of him in the future.
I’d love to see what happens next on Niflheim!

I think I actually like this better than Mikey7. The story is more adventurous and the exploration and setting are engaging and fun.

It's summer time in Niflheim and we find Mickey retired from being an expendable and living a fairly boring existence as a rabbit tender. But all is not well, the antimatter bomb Mickey lied about the Creepers having is needed back or the whole colony will be doomed to fail. There's only one problem, the bomb isn't where it's supposed to be. And so ensues a rag tag adventure to retrieve the bomb and save the day. I loved the action driven plot in this novel and the new character Speaker made me laugh. I can't wait to see these books on the big screen!
