The writing was a little thin at times, but there was enough to like to continue the series.

Michael Sinclair has spent 27 years pretending he can't see ghosts and living a normal life but will things change when the attractive Kate and her ailing brother Gavin move in next door and bring more than just their earthly possessions with them?

Cemetery Tours is a fun paranormal mystery story with mild thriller and romance themes tossed in. This is a well written tale that offers a unique view on the afterlife and what happens after death. I very much enjoyed this read and honestly, I couldn't quite pin down what was going to happen until it was happening. I definitely recommend giving it a read if you are looking for a fun and easy paranormal story.

Ultimately, I gave this book a 3.5 star rating (but since Goodreads doesn't offer half star reviews I rounded it up).

Disclaimer: The author has given me a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review. This did not affect my criticism of the book in any way. All opinions are mine and mine alone.

A story packed with a good laugh hidden behind the cold wind of spine-chilling stories of ghosts. Jacqueline E. Smith conveyed her feeling of excitement for the wonderful unknown of our world. Sharing the possibilities of a “life” after death.

Michael Sinclair is a man who can see ghosts, but he doesn’t want people to know because he wants to be “normal”. Kate Avery got in an accident that caused her so much more than she could ever know. The entanglement of their lives is how this story begins.

Cemetery Tours is a good mixture of humour and insanity. Starting the book really made me engaged with just a snap of the finger. It made me laugh and it made me feel as though someone is with me while I am reading the book. The emotions it spreads throughout your system while reading it is terrific! All the characters have their own strange unique quality that will sooner or later make you feel attached to them. The only trouble I ever had with them is that they fell into the trope called insta-love.

It is impressive how Jacqueline E. Smith wrote the story as if you are sitting beside her while she tells you the story of two people she knows that experienced such a crazy life. How she transitioned every chapter and every cut throughout the book is amazing. It is not confusing in any way. And her capability to really engage her reader in a state of stupor, being transported, lost in the story, is fantastic.

Overall, Cemetery Tours is not your typical horror book. It offers so much more than just ghosts and romantic trope. You’ll definitely have fun reading it.

I love scaring myself silly with ghost stories, and I've been known to watch an episode or two of Ghost Hunters and other paranormal shows, so Cemetery Tours was right up my alley! I also love the fact that it's set in Dallas, and as I live there, I could visualize the action playing out all over the Metroplex.

Michael has done his best to hide the fact that he can see ghosts. He's got plenty of reasons to keep that bit of info on the DL--wouldn't you?

But when an attractive and haunted (literally) young woman and her brother move into the apartment across the hall, Michael might just have to reconsider.

Kate Avery and her brother Gavin are being haunted by a malevolent spirit. Michael's determined to help Kate, but he's also got to compete with Luke Ranier, the sexy young star of the Cemetery Tours television series, who steps in, eager to make contact with the spirit. Michael's got his reasons not to like Luke. Will they be able to work together when it matters most?

Great start to a series with a likable reluctant hero who deserves to win the affections of a wonderful girl like Kate. There are two more volumes in the series! Yay!

So this was an interesting read! I picked it up because it said "local author" so of course I had to support her, and I ended up finding a new author that I look forward to following. This book was a breath of fresh air with real characters who tend to be selfish, a little annoying, but realistic. Bonus point that it was based in Dallas so I knew where everything was and felt right at home!
I look forward to picking up the next one as soon as I can get back to the library.

I received this book for free from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Paranormal is not a genre I typically read but with that being said, I did enjoy this.

When I first started reading this I was reminded of the hitchhiking ghosts from the Haunted Mansion because the ghosts follow Michael home. So already this book was off to a good start.

I loved the mystery surrounding Gavin and Kate and their circumstances. I kept wondering, Who is this ghost haunting them? There was definitely a lot of intrigue there.

Luke Rainer was such an interesting character. At first I didn’t like him because he seemed so conceited but then he grew on me as the story went on.

I didn’t find anything particularly special about the romance, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. For the most part it felt very average, but this is just the first book in the series so it has time to develop further.

I didn’t know if I liked the ending, until the very end when I read the last page. The last page sealed the deal for me. The author ended the book at a very good place. It definitely makes me curious about what will happen next.

As I said before, I don’t typically read paranormal books, but I really liked this one because it wasn’t super paranormal. I have a limit when it comes to the amount of paranormal activity I can tolerate in a book and this had the perfect amount.

Overall, this was a solid paranormal novel with equal amounts of romance and mystery. The twists and turns will keep you reading until the very end.

I was sent a copy for an honest review.

Omg! I freaking loved this book! I did not expect to become so invested in this but wow. The story hits the ground running with Michael who can see spirits. He has kept it hidden all his life. Until some new neighbors move in and strange things happen. There are so many twists and turns with this book that I absolutely didn't see coming! I couldn't put it down! I had to know what happened next. Love the plot and the characters so much! Diving into the next book right now!! Thank you Jacqueline!! <3

Before I actually spill my 5-star review for this read, I want to say thanks to Jacqueline E. Smith for sending me a copy of this book which really suits the halloween season.

My first impression with this book is that it's going to be a normal paranormal-thriller type of read but after flipping a few pages, I noticed that Jacq's style of writing was pretty different (in a good way) because I kind of get attached to the story and characters of Michael Sinclair and Kate Avery.

This book promises a lot of element like mystery and romance and ghostly adventure, which I think fits what most people want that is a diverse read.

I admit that I'm not really into this type of story but Cemetery Tours changed my point of view with this because I really like the overall vibe of this book--- pacing, character development, and the twists. Though I'm not really familiar with the Cemetery Tours references in the story, I didn't find it hard to relate since Kate's character provided all the necessary experience an avid fan needs to know, and Luke's spontaneous character added spice to the story also.

Lastly, at some point in the story, it got myself thinking of what is really waiting for us in the afterlife. I'm really afraid of the general idea of death but still, I really liked the entire premise of this read. Looking forward to other books on this series and what's next for Mike and the Avery siblings. Happy Halloweeeeeeeeen!
