I am ashamed to say this, but I definitely judge this book by the cover and I'm so mad it took me so long to get to this book. I loved this book so much!!

The writing was fantastic, I loved the disability rep., and the story itself was very funny, but also had a lot of emotion wrapped into it. Don't get me wrong, I liked Willa, but Ryder was the star of this book for me (I mean duh! The whole series is based on his family).

This book has my heart bursting at the seams and swooning all over the place. Chloe Liese is officially a new favorite author of mine.

This was pretty funny, pretty cute and pretty solid overall. I liked their relationship and the banter/wit was written really well (as well as being pretty smart). I liked how similar it was to a movie and the journey from enemies to frenemies to lovers. Also I really enjoyed sports being a main factor (soccer). Love a good sports romance.  I liked how it was dual POV as well and we got to see Ryder’s perspective.  I enjoyed this tho and I will read the rest of the books in the series.

The grief and cancer in this book (and PTSD) added a layer of realism and it was nice to see how healthy coping mechanisms were shown and how you can still have love and romance and other problems in your life.

Characters are diverse bc of disability representation, not bc of racial/ethnic diversity - it was a bit diverse bc it has Swedish rep but they’re not really a minority. I think the best friend is Indian?

It seems like every romance read ever is in love with this book. It wasn’t for me. Parts of it were just super cringy and spoiler:
the female main character’s mom dies which was very triggering
.  It wasn’t awful but it was just okay.

The best part of this book was the sexual tension. The main characters had fantastic Pride-and-Prejudice-esque banter. Where it fell flat for me was the stong heteronormativity and sexism. Even though there were aspects of feminism explored, there were also several instances of the man rescuing the woman without many times where the woman was the strong one.

Willa and Ryder's story was an emotionally tolling one, with grief, caring, and deep attraction to sustain it. Unfortunately, it just did not grab me. (Am I somehow becoming more choosy about my romances?) I think if I had just plowed through this one in a couple days, I would have enjoyed it more. As it is, I have had to take it out of the e-library a couple times, and I simply do not have the energy or drive to do it again. I know many readers will love this sweet, emotional romance, though!
