i wasn't a huge fan of the first half (the scene where
takako kills that rapey fuck
is much more icky than the novel version, in a heavily targeted-to-male-audiences way, and i hated that). but then in the second half there were a few changes from the novel's narrative that i found very interesting, and which i think enhanced the plot and the characters' relationships much more than the same chapters in the novel did.

one of those changes made the 3 protagonists seem... way more throuple-like than before-? (in the book, they all go together to the clinic, but in the manga, shuya and noriko ditch shogo because he doesn't want to move until nightfall - after they leave, shogo has a flashback to a conversation he once had with his GIRLFRIEND (๐Ÿคจ) and that's what makes him decide to follow after them. you could take this as him just trying to be a better person or something but why did thinking of his girlfriend,
who he had to kill during a previous battle royale, and who he thus left behind/let her leave him behind
make him reconsider letting them leave?? the parallels between the situations are kinda gay. ngl.)

speaking of, shogo kawada is about ten times more zesty in the manga than the novel/movie, which i love !! (bro literally said "dick suits you" to shuuya. what on earth are you cooking sir ๐Ÿ˜Ÿ)
