This book itself, while slow to start, was overall pretty good. I definitely see where other people are coming from with it taking too long but I thought the beginning was better then the end detail wise. I don’t think I’ll be reading the rest of the series since they are all interconnected standalone stories but I definitely wanted to know how the ending continues with the same characters in the center not in the side plots.

DID NOT FINISH

If nothing really happens during the beginning and all it is is talking, nothing usually happens through the rest of the book. Especially if its a stand alone. With 666 pages in the whole book, what can you honestly put in there? The plot didn't even seem that good to begin with. Let alone for 666 pages.

If there are books that do that and get better, please do tell.
But I'm bored of this book already and probably won't ever finish this.

Tiktok made me do it and I am glad it did.
This story is the magical, fae version of Arbian Nights.
Asha is a human who sacrifices herself in the off chance it saves her sister, her sacrifice though touches more than her sister's life but every beautiful girls life.
The fae king is a man tormented by his guilt and the memory of his father, so, much so that he is willing to execute innocent people.
Read this book if you want to know how a story saves Asha. Read it if you want to learn the story inside a story that still influences those around them today.
Read this story if you want to know how a girl who was maimed can influence a great change more than all the beautiful women who surround her ever could.

I honestly loved this book. I’m so confused by the ratings that say it fell flat and was repetitive, did we even read the same book??

This books really stood out to me in the sea of YA fae fantasy novels about a young female protagonist that “isn’t like other girls”. The storytelling ability that Asha has was very intriguing, and I was so invested in the flashback story that Asha tells throughout the book. There were also several moments that just paint such a nice, visual picture of what was happening. I also saw a few reviews that complain about how the romance has no basis, as Asha and Kiran don’t have many conversations. But I think this romance blossoms through actions, rather than words.

The best part of the book was the plot twist, because holy moly I did not see that coming! I’m even disappointed to learn that this is a one off and that the following books don’t follow Asha’s story anymore. How will we get closure??

This was not what I was expecting. I was kind of expecting more of a romance but in my opinion it was way more focused on the plot and fantasy elements!

I liked the characters and the story but it didn't blow my mind or make me scream with delight. There were definitely some "no way" moments and definitely some plot reveals that made me go "okayyyyyy"

I'll continue the series for sure but probably not right away.

has no spice

A bit of a slow start. Left the book twice, but kept thinking about so decided to finish it. So glad I did. I gasped out loud so many times. The plot twists are so entertaining. Definitely worth a read. It’s not spicy, but the heat between the characters was enough. No spoilers from me, just read it

DNF'ing the series. Style of writing weighed far too heavily on inner monologue for me and after about half way through I decided to skim read a lot of the rest of it. Had a lot of potential.
