This book so badly made me want to be a bookseller again. I miss the conversations I would have had about it while trying to sell it.

have i read a million books with the same themes? yes. do i want to read even more? always. god i love middle grade fiction feat. teen girl + family + friends.

sad to say this is the first book by a man that i've read this year (boo). the plot, while unrealistic at times (it's fiction, what can you expect?), was exciting and unpredictable, and i enjoyed the diverse, kind cast of characters. my one major gripe is the writing, which was fun but seemed appropriative in a way that's hard to explain (or maybe i just don't know how people talk in rural washington). regardless, it threw me out of the story a bit and seemed unnecessary/unrealistic. would recommend because i love emotional books and i cried a lot near the end.

Insightful, heartwarming, and powerful. Coyote and Rodeo are lovable characters who attract a bus full of good people and great animals.

It's a no from me. I couldn't get into it. I don't know why Coyote sounds like she's from the Wild West circa 1885 or why we aren't talking more about how a man who isolates his daughter and forces them both to go by different names with no fixed location is child abuse in the real world.
