Very heart touching, it was very hard to read most of the times, can’t believe a mother can be so evil. It opened my eyes regarding narcissistic people and how sometimes is so hard to get out of a relationship with a narcissist. How after all the abuse you are still having sympathy for them. I am glad the girls had a happy ending but that woman and that father deserved a lifetime in jail.

I read this book in one sitting, largely because of the horrific nature of the experience of these sisters. It is a very inspiring story once you get over the harrowing details of the mother's crimes, and for that reason I might recommend it, but only with a fair warning. I gave this 4 stars because of how propelled through it I was, but the writing wasn't groundbreaking.

Wow. Just wow. I finished this book and then went immediately on Google to find more information about this story and find an update about how the sisters are doing. Horrific, shocking and not an easy read, my stomach turned and my head shook so much.

This is my first nonfiction book. I’m rating this 4⭐️ because of how well the story was told, the POVs it can be heard from and just the sheer will these girls had to have to live the way they were forced to. This story deserved to be told and it blows my mind people are still out there living like that. Can’t count how many times I shook my head listening to this one.

I really enjoyed this book and its true story. I know it must have been hard to write based on interviews and news articles but I felt like it was done in a way that was respectful for the girls involved. It was repetitive at times but I didn’t mind that. I thought the ending was a little rushed and not justice served, but if that’s the true story I guess there wasn’t much more to write on it.
Sad about what happened to Shane in particular because I was hopeful he had finally made it out.
