I can distinctly remember the day I discovered that Interview With the Vampire wasn't just a standalone novel. It was a joyous day, filled with much combing of Amazon to find the absolute lowest priced copy I could that was still in "good" condition. And I was not disappointed, although Interview will probably always be my favorite of the series.
Lestat is the very definition of "little shit." He's rash, he's impulsive, he has the utmost confidence that he knows what he's doing (he doesn't). And he's incredibly obtuse about literally everything. Gabrielle and Armand being all, "This isn't a good idea, Lestat" basically gets a "Yes, but it's still an idea!" and Lestat doing the thing. He is the living embodiment of the Everyone: "Lestat, no!" Lestat: "Lestat, yes!" meme.
It makes for a great read, no lie, but Lestat's story is way more chaotic and ridiculous than Louis' sedate account in Interview.
