The end has come and the beloved characters of Thornchapel have to say goodbye. I must admit i did not want to say it. I procrastinated chapeter by chapter as each page read was hard won. As their final storylines merge again to fulfill the final requirements it gets harder and harder to read. They have each traveled a path, made a journey of self discovery and become their most truest selves. The love and unbridled passion that pours from the pages grips you in a vice and wont let go. Its harrowing and dark and danger lurks, waiting as the door stays open. In the end it blew my mind. I saw it coming and I didn't. How could I? It is all as it was meant to be and that is more than good enough for me. The author astounds me with her words and I don't think I will ever be able to let go of Poe, Auden, St. Sebastian, Beckett, Rebecca or Delphine. They are unforgettable and timeless.

The author is a beautiful write with prose almost like poetry. And she’s not afraid to hit on potentially taboo topics. The mystery solved. The relationships determined. I was sad to not see more of Becket as I really thought he’d be a larger part of the story. The ending of this series was a fascinating one!

This was everything I wanted it to be and more

It’s impossible to describe what this series is about so the best way to describe it is magical village/estate and lots of kinky love with found family vibes. Even then that doesn’t encapsulate the beauty that was this story and it’s characters. Everything that they went through to get to where they ended up and all they had to endure. It wasn’t just the story of Auden, Poe, Saint, Becket, Rebecca or Delphine but also their parents as well as the Guest and Kernstow ancestors going back and back and back.

After reading new Camelot series, the Bell brothers series and now this I have to say Sierra Simone has officially become a favorite author. Her series are always so well researched and her character arcs well developed with the plots leaving you both completely satisfied while wanting more from the world.

My only regret is that it’s over

I was along for the ride for 3 books. And then this book was just so boring and too long. It lost all the momentum.

I was putting off finishing this series because I didn’t want it to end. The authors note of “creepy but comforting” is so accurate. I enjoyed the twists and turns of this, the found family, and the folklore all while rooted in contemporary romance. And the writing is just incredible.

Oh. My. God. I could not put this down! I just had to know what happened next! There’s a huge focus on Auden this time and all of his struggles. It’s deep, it’s spicy, and it’s dramatic. The ending is jaw dropping and in the weirdest way, it felt exactly as it should be. I could keep reading this series forever!

I need so much more than we were given at the end of this book!!! What does the other side of the door look like? How is it different? Who owns Thorncastle? Is it a parallel universe or totally different? AHHHHH!!! My frustration aside I liked that everything came together and most of our questions were answered. The series was fun and I liked the pieces of magic intertwined. One thing though… for the endless ways an author can refer to male genitalia why in the world was organ the chosen term…. I guess there was so much spice in other scenes you needed to cool it down with the oh not so erotic word organ. Overall the series was a solid 3.5 - 4 stars and i know in a couple of years I’ll re-read and enjoy it again.

Holy f*cking sh!t that was a roller coaster. Door of Bruises is the final book in the Thornchapel Series by Sierra Simone and when I say epic conclusion I meant epic conclusion. The door is well and truly open and what’s on the other side demands a sacrifice or it will continue to poison Thorn Valley. I truly did not see this ending the way it did. Honestly Simone writes in such a way that anything is possible. This book was magical, erotic, heartbreaking, beautiful, tragic and perfection. I can say, with my whole chest, this is a five star series. Please, please, please go read this series.
