I wasn’t aware this was the second book of a 3 book series so starting it not having known about book 1, felt like the reader continues with a great character development. I have to go and get books 1, 3. Great story line for this one.

I literally cannot finish this. I made it to chapter 5 before finally giving up. I didn’t like Slammed, but thought that with the change of perspective and with it not being Hoover’s debut novel, it surely couldn’t get worse. God was I wrong.
Will and Lake act like children - which at 19 and 22 they essentially are, but having to grow up like they did, you would think they would have even a touch more maturity than they do. Will’s decision to not tell Lake about his ex being in his college course when it’s clear that she is coming on to him??? I mean come ON. It’s all very middle school.
The slam poetry is also so badly written it made me actually nauseous. Which for a book where that is so central… it’s just embarrassing.
The whole thing had me seeing red tbh.

Really enjoyed this read after finishing Slammed. It was an easy read and the characters are likeable. My only issue with this book is it seemed a little too sappy for my taste.
