This book was fine. Honestly the first book ended nicely enough that any more was just unnecessary unless you were going to give it a new plot. It was just an extension of the first. There were some fun chapters and if you loved the first book, this would be a fine continuation of it. But definitely stop here and do NOT read the 3rd book in the series. YA- No spice.

This sequel to Slammed isn't quite as compelling as the original, but I still read the whole book in two sittings! These characters (including the new additions to the group) are vividly quirky, and admirably committed to each other, and you can't help but root for them. Although Will and Lake's circumstances are highly unusual and soap-opera-esque, the problems they deal with seemed realistic to me within those circumstances. And their love, it is pure.

This is a great follow-up to Colleen Hoover's first book, Slammed. Both were powerful reads with intense scenes that made me sob - but they were good tears. Layken's mother's continued presence in this book was perfectly delivered. And Will... what can I say? He's still perfect. If you loved Slammed, you'll love Point of Retreat. It's butterflying awesome!
