Great world building but not moving fast enough for me. Like others said it felt like a lot could’ve been cut out of the book.

This book needed to be set on the chopping block and hacked up. 30% of this book could've been removed and the story wouldn't have suffered at all.

That being said, I really did like what the author was going for, it was a well built world that I thought was pretty neat. And as silly as it may sound I saw too much of it.

A big (in every sense of the word), brilliant and brilliantly written epic fantasy, with complex characters and an immersive story. And dragons, don't forget the dragons. Whilst it is a stand-alone, some doors are left open for a possible return to this world one day. Fully deserving of the hype!

Slow first half and rushed second half I think. Really lovely world-building with characters that felt just complex enough to be believable and likable. The romance was so sloooow but worth it. I love how Samantha builds in LGBTQ stories as part of the world and nothing really special or highlighted, like it always should be. I do wish some of the character building and struggles felt like they didn’t resolve quite so easily but that’s a small thing. Definitely worth a read for the story and the world-building!

Too slow, not enough action happening for as far in as I am. Not sure what the purpose of the book is.
