Not sure if it’s a 3.5 or 4/5

First Emily Henry book and I loved her writing. I don't know what I was expecting but as a person who's used to reading fantasy romance, fluffy rom-coms and/or books with MCs in their early twenties, this felt more mature. This book definitely wasn't a fluffy rom-com in contrast to the vibe it's title and it's cover gives.

The banter was really good, the characters felt real, the plot was nice but I didn't feel excited to read. I definitely enjoyed it but it was just that, enjoyment. Nothing more, nothing less. It might be because I read a 5 stars fantasy romance right before getting into this book so I will maybe reread this sometimes.

I have literally no critiques apart from the fact that I didn't love the ending.

This being said, I do want to read her other books!

*****

Would I recommend this to others? Yes
Would I reread this? Maybe
Is this book forgettable? I might forget what exactly the plot was about but it would come back to me as I reread it (if I do)

A very cute romance, with a lot of heart behind it and very *real* characters. Loved them and their chemistry together, and loved reading about a pair of authors bonding over writing.

2.5 stars, but I’ll round up to 3 because I’m on vacation and in a good mood. This book took for f*cking ever to develop a plot, some kind of conflict that the reader would actually care about. There were times I’d have to reread pages or paragraphs because I was so bored I forgot what I read and other times I’d forget what I read but just keep reading to get to the end. Once the plot did finally develop (almost 175 pages in), it did have my attention hence the 3 stars. Overall not impressed. I will try another EH book before I give her a total thumbs down.
