Such an interesting and intricate young adult story full of grit, adventure, and betrayal. I loved the story and it’s arc, the Viking feel, and the moral arcs. Felt a little like a tamer version of the game of thrones vibes. Poetic writing.

Quarantine read! It seemed intriguing so I gave it a shot. O ended up reading it in one sitting. The writing style is very effective but a tad dry in my opinion, which made it hard for my to invest my feelings into the characters and the plot. I did enjoy the plot, especially what the last 30 pages with two fantastic twists I didn't see coming but I could trace back in the little details as soon as they occurred. I think the bittersweet ending was realistic for a story like this, which is such a refreshing and utterly human thing to see. I will be looking into the other two books in this series.
