It's fine. Just a slice of life story about a big family and their tragic and troublesome adoptive sister. The characters were all kindof annoying, but I think they were supposed to be like that in the name of realism. Some of the stuff about gender roles is a bit dated, but nothing has aged so poorly as to make the book offensive.
