My review is for the entire series, 1-8, and I'll post this same text for all 8 volumes. This is a solid, page-turning comic series in which Dana and Martha Cypress, two young women living in Wausau, Wisconsin, grapple with an event that changes everything forever: the recently dead come back to life. They appear to be just like before, with all their wits about them. But are they really the same? And who are those eerie, glowing beings stalking the woods? Dana, as a sheriff's deputy, has skills and grit to tackle the sinister mysteries behind the resurrections. Martha, or "Em", as she goes by, has a newfound grit of her own and a secret or two. This tightly-paced, action-packed, gore-soaked story arc is a great way to wile away some precious free time.

I still can't fault the series even this far in. It still requires a cursory flick through of previous volumes to refresh my memory but it all comes back pretty quick and I'll be very glad to reread the whole thing when it's done. It still has some of the most interesting, well developed characters around, and for the most part you're interested in what happens with all of them. This might be a problem in the long run as the series is beginning to wrap up but hopefully they'll be able to pull off a satisfying conclusion. This volume slows the pace a little, catches up with a few people, introduces others, and then erupts at the end with a few points of no return that make me even more excited for the final push. I'll be sad when it's finished but I also cannot wait.

This wasn't my favorite of the series to date, but I can't really pinpoint why. Maybe it was because it felt like it was bouncing all over, trying to keep up the story lines with all the different characters. Maybe it's because new characters are being introduced while I would really rather find out about my favorites. Or maybe it's simply because too much time has passed since I read the last one, and I've lost my momentum.

Oh well. Either way, I'm fully invested, so on with the show!

Definitely more on track for plot development. Hopefully it keeps focusing in

Awesome! After a few slow volumes, I finally feel like I've been given some concrete crucial information and the story is progressing. I especially enjoyed the addition of the Amish "ninja assassin" and the continuing little Wisconsin-specific details (TRILLIUMS!!).
