road map for everything to "what is a campaign," "what do I run for," and "wtf is the DGA"

This was fine. I was a little caught of guard towards the beginning when the author kept repeating "you should run for something. Yes, you. You should do it. I mean you." but followed that up with an offhand "unless you're living paycheck to paycheck, then probably not you." And like . . . okay? Do you assume no one can be poor and passionate? After that I detached a bit. There was some decent info, but more of a "let's get inspired to get started" guide and not so much of a detailed how to. Lots of info on how to fundraise without much direction on where to spend those funds (though there was plenty of emphasis on the fact that voters will see a well-funded campaign as a successful campaign).

Some basic knowledge and lots of encouragement for women. It’s not easy to run for office but it helps when there are women around the country cheering for you. That’s what this book does best.

Fun and informative. (I'm not planning on running, but I thought it would be useful for thinking about political organizing.)

The tone is very conversational. It's structured so it doesn't have to be read cover to cover so it ends up making the same points over and over. Knock doors, got it. Pick up the phone, got it.

I don’t want to run for anything, so I shouldn’t be surprised that this book didn’t do much for me. It did help me figure out ways to support the campaigns of people I care about (which is why I read it), but I knew a lot of the content already. I would recommend it if anyone is considering running for something.

decent book outlining steps you'd need to run for local office (read it before giving it as a gift ;) ).

I just pursed this book but if you were seriously considering that id imagine it'd be helpful. tone was encouraging and sarcastic (but not overly so IMO) and the necessary information was organized and easy to find

if I were actually considering running I'm sure this would be a good resource; even though I'm not there were a lot of instructions for what to do to get more involved
