I rarely give books five stars but I devoured the last half of this book without moving from the couch for 3 hours and it made me cry and think about the goodness of humanity so those are my criteria. Forever obsessed with Fredrik Backman he is a genius and all of his books are so beautiful and touching. This book was marketed as a “feel good fiction” book from a book club and they all seemed to be laughing out loud but like while I though there was plenty of funny fun parts and lines(I mean the premise is out there and there’s a lot wild stuff that goes on (the rabbit

Dive into the intricate web of human emotions with Fredrik Backman's "Anxious People", a masterfully crafted tale that intertwines comedy, tragedy, and hope in a way that will leave you breathless.

In "Anxious People," Backman introduces us to a motley crew of characters thrown together by a failed bank robbery turned hostage situation. As the story unfolds, we delve into the depths of their anxieties, regrets, and desires, discovering the humanity that binds us all.

Backman's writing is nothing short of captivating. With prose that is both poignant and humorous, he effortlessly draws readers into the lives of his characters, making us laugh, cry, and ponder the complexities of the human condition.

One of the novel's greatest strengths lies in its portrayal of mental health struggles. Through its characters, "Anxious People" explores the often-overlooked reality of anxiety and depression with empathy and authenticity, shedding light on the struggles that so many face in silence.

But perhaps what sets "Anxious People" apart is its unwavering optimism. Despite the darkness that permeates its pages, the novel ultimately delivers a message of hope—that even in our darkest moments, there is light to be found, and that even the most unlikely connections can lead to redemption.

I’m pretty sure that Fredrik Backman is my favorite author. His books are full of complex characters and the plot is not always guessable. This one was a quality story right from the start. People at an apartment open house are taken hostage by a bank robber. But these strangers start to connect with each other and in doing so, they have the potential to help the bank robber. But will they?
