A quick and engaging read.
Even though I figured out the twist about halfway through, I still enjoyed seeing how the author wrapped the whole thing up.

i was so surprised at this and really enjoyed the way it was written!!

This book was so good. It was about a washed up author that gets an exclusive for a new book. But it isn't really his story to tell and someone will stop at nothing to make sure he stops talking. His book goes to the top of the bestseller lists and starts his rise to fame. Then someone starts to blackmail and threatens to tell his secret. The Plot details the author's search for the person who is trying to take him down.

Loved it! Plot within plot, within plot. Even when I guessed the final twist, the ending didn't disappoint. I hope Spielberg makes this into a feature! :-)

Premise was interesting and I like a book within a book type story, but the execution fell flat for me - there a lot of background / exposition that wasn't that relevant to the plot. The set up took a bit too long and there were so many details about publishers, the main character's failed writing career, and so on and it just wasn't very gripping.

Spoiler
I also thought the twist in the main story was far too easy to guess - there was basically only one main character besides Jake, so obviously that was the killer / sister. Then there was such a big deal made about her serving him soup all of a sudden at the end that it was very clear that she'd poisoned the soup. I think this twist would have worked much better had there been at least one other plausible suspect.

I did in fact guess the plot twist in the beginning of the book but it’s okay

Very similar to Yellowface
