Stunning memoir of a devoted mother meets science-based how-tos in a book I will recommend to all my fellow mothers of sons

Jha absolutely kills this subject. The way she was able to weave together matter of fact information with heartbreaking personal and societal stories was incredible. Anyone with a son or a nephew or a little brother or any boy in their life that they’re close to should read this.

What an incredible read. A memoir that is cheeky and wise, but moreover a feminist primer, this book makes me want everyone to read it, whether they have any intention of raising a child of any gender, or not. I think this is the first explicitly feminist book that left me hopeful! It also kind of makes me want to become best friends with the author; she feels like my people.

Ein hoher Anspruch, auch wenn in dem Buch betont wird, dass frau nicht perfekt sein muss. Wir werden wohl erst in vielen Jahren sehen, ob wir den richtigen Weg eingeschlagen haben.

Trigger warning: This book had some good questions but some parts can be very explicit about the realities of things like rape culture. I do not recommend reading this book if this will upset you. I was barely able to get through the first two chapters. If you do not have sexual trauma, this may be a good book still.

This is EXCELLENT. Jha's writing is sharp and witty. Loved the cross culturally perspectives on feminism. Such a great list of additional resources for kids and adults. I just wish I would have picked this up sooner.
