Quite repetitive especially with Riley saying the world was going to burn and wanting to find a hole to hide in, but a good conclusion to the series for what it was worth.
Garret and Ember were quite cringy, but maybe because I’m old now

I was not impressed with this book compared to the others. The series really started strong, and I was such a fan of it, as I am with all of Julia Kagawa’s other novels. But this book lost it for me. It was the big battle that the four other books of the series has led up to, but it fell short for me. ¾ of the book was planning, and/or small attacks/fights. The ending was of course the ending of the Elder Wyrm, but it was just too much for me. The characters were built in the other books to be enjoyable but I just didn’t feel it this time. The romances through the series didn’t end how I hoped. Overall, this book just fell short for me.

Gah, I'm going to miss this series so much! I've been attached to this world and its characters for years and will have a hard time letting them go. But this is the showdown that has been building for five books, and I have to say, it doesn't disappoint! Now that almost all of the personal drama and conflicted loyalties have been resolved and set aside, all that's left is for Ember, Garret, and Riley to build an army to match the might of Talon. I have to say that was one of my favourite parts, aside from the highly intense ending that was straight out of an action blockbuster. There were lots of developed characters questioning themselves and their choices. This is honestly the ending I wanted and was glad to see my wishes fulfilled! The ending was perfect for the series and ideal for all Julie Kagawa fans, as well as lovers of urban fantasy and dragons. I can't wait to see what Kagawa comes up with next!

This book was great! I love that the high stakes were constant throughout the entire novel. Overall, I give the series a 5 star just for the awesome concept.

A stunning finale, this book was everything I was hoping it would be. For one thing, we lose the backstory chapters (which were always my least favorite part of the middle books) and we focus on the final battle. As expected everyone comes together against Talon in this final book, but there are some definite bumps along the way. A new romance develops (I was hoping for this one) and we get plenty of closure for everyone we care about---well, at least for everyone who survives. I mean, you can't have an apocalyptic final battle without some loss, right? Of course, you'll have to read to find out who's still breathing in the end!
