My heart flatlined while reading this novel. The premise was sweet but that’s where my excitement for the book ended. There was no conflict or climax for the book—-just a series of happy moments for the main characters, who were, might I add, extremely entitled. I would have liked the author to delve deeper into topics of loss, betrayal and divorce. Instead, it was a very surface level telling of events.

I loved this book, the character were so well written and the situations were so believable.
Karissa is moving to a new home in Gig Harbor with her daughter Macy, after her husband cheated on her with her best friend.
As she settles into her new job and makes friends, she finds she needs a bit more in her life so with her neighbours she starts a bookclub. All those in the bookclub are facing challenges of their own. I liked that they all supported each other and cheered each other on.
Karrissa's interactions with Macy were so well written, there was a lovely scene where she was trying to help Macy be more positive about changing school and making friends. She was reaching her about Carpe Diem and was so sweetly done.
I suspect that Edward Elliot was slightly modelled on both Mr Rochester and Mr Darcy, he was a good character. I found Josie to be a bit hard to like to begin with but she mellowed and I respected her for the way she tried to help her sister. All the members of the bookclub were so good to read about and to see how the bookclub help them. I liked seeing Karissa find her place at work and get to do things that really made a difference not only to her, the others she worked with but the authors they helped.
This book was not only about finding friends, your place in your work and school, it was also about finding yourself and challenging yourself to do things that are possibly out of your comfort zone.
Each chapter had a quote from one of the books the book group were reading and that was nice.
This is one of the few books where I have tabbed passages.
Would highly recommend this book.

I just reviewed The Best Life Book Club by Sheila Roberts. #TheBestLifeBookClub #NetGalley
I enjoyed how it showed the friendship between all the generations of women. I love the support they gave each other. I loved the characters and how each character grew throughout the book. I hope this book turns into a series because I feel these characters have more to say.

Birthday book from Loch! Set in Gig Harbor, so really fun to read. Friendship, some wonderful slow burn romance, and growth of 4 women.

Cute multi-character story and I loved reading about a group that keep living and experiencing life after going through some trauma things.
