I think that this might be my second favorite book in the series so far (after the first one of course) if only because we finally get sections from Temeraire’s POV. Getting to watch him grow into his leadership role while still fighting for the rights of the other dragons was just so fun, but I do wish that Novik had done more to make Temeraire’s sections more distinct from Laurence’s ( I mean, he’s a dragon, it shouldn’t feel like reading from the POV of a human, but it did). I’m also ambiguous about the ending because I don’t know enough about the Napoleonic Wars to know if the battle at the end is supposed to be the actual end of it or if there will be more in a later book. I suspect that we haven’t seen the last of Napoleon and Lien, even while I personally hope that we’re done with it and we’ll just get some nice dragon-y Australian adventures with Granby and Iskierka because I’m starting to get tired of all the fighting.

Sometimes you read a book and think, wow this is really good but I should probably take a break. Didn't think that at all and finished it in the afternoon. Wild that these are so intense but also incredibly easy smd pleasurable to read.
