I really liked the emotional conflicts Oraya had to deal with, especially coming to terms with her Father and everything. I really did not like the physical conflicts, she just passed out during every battle

This a review of both books 1 and 2 together.

It's been a minute since I picked up a vampire story, so I was excited at the reviews I had seen for this series.

The story follows a strong female MC, Oraya, who was raised by the vampire king. In order for her to become as strong as her fathers, she must enter the Kenjari, the tournament hosted by the Goddess herself. The world building is clear with little to question about the hierarchy of the vampire rule. The story throughout this competition is intense. The ending of book one does in on a cliffhanger, so make sure you have book 2 ready! Book 2 continues after the competition, leading Oraya to find who she really is.

Shit went downnnnnn ate it up and kept me on my toes - felt like a very realistic depiction of wars and losses without emotionally scarring me for life

adventurous dark emotional

An excellent follow-up! Less relationship building and more fantasy and politicking focused than the first book. MCs took their time reconnecting, and the pacing made sense. The best parts were the magic system and seeing the FMC come into her own power.
