I did not know what to expect, going into this, seeing as I've not read most of these classics and sci-fi is not usually my cup of tea. But I did find a few stories that excited me here. Thornfield has to be my favourite of the lot, the atmosphere the author managed to create with so few words was impressive and immersive. I also enjoyed Shame and Social Media, Isla Bella and Tesoro a lot. Heart of the Sea pleasantly surprised me, I quite liked it. The collection is a mixed bag, I'm sure there's something here for everyone.

Really enjoyed many of the short stories! Some shined above the rest but altogether it was so so fantastic!

RELIT is a delightful collection of classic stories and myths retold through a sci-fi/fantasy lens with a highlight on Latinx voices. Even though I was only familiar with approximately half of the retellings in this anthology, I was able to thoroughly enjoy every story, as each tale provided enough details for it to feel like an immersive and complete story while still remaining short-story bite-sized that I could sneak in a read here or there throughout my busy days. There was a 50-50 mix between sci-fi and fantasy genre, with the fantasy stories being a combination of contemporary/urban fantasy and more traditional/folklore-esque fantasy. A couple stories that really stood out include the dystopian cyborg mermaid (a remix of Frankenstein), three magical lakes and a mermaid with a heart of gold (remix of Little Mermaid), and a shape-shifter bird trying to escape an evil bruja (remix of Nightingale and the Rose), and a young girl battling an ocean of sand in a bid to help her family survive (remix of The Old Man and the Sea). For many of these stories, it was the first time I was reading works by those authors, and I'll definitely need to check out their other works. Any reader who has a soft spot for retellings/reimaginings of time-old tales should definitely check out this book!

Relit is a very cool collection of retellings with LatinX voices and stories. Lots of these stand out but I really enjoyed the Pride and Prejudice retelling and the Beauty and the Beast retelling. I'll definitely be looking into more of these authors work in the future.

Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for providing me with an arc for an honest review.
