#12 in the series perhaps but #1 in the sequence. I've always loved her and the books are holding up well.

A collection of stories that fills in the holes of the beginnings of Pern, it was entertaining. Some stories were better than others; I did not enjoy Rescue Run. It was frustrating to me. Sometimes the stories could be a little redundant, but it was enjoyable. That said, it makes me look forward to see how Pern continues to evolve...or see if it devolves!

Audio book probably needs to be redone, there were occasional moments of silence or static, not enough to loose what was happening story wise, but annoying. Otherwise, it was nice to know the beginning of the dragon riders, of the survivors picked up. That was cool!

Interesting beginning to the Pern series, showcasing how the familiar Holds came to be.

Good book. Not a fan of the last section of the book. Kimmer's greed and the implication of incest was a bitch much. The birth of Rautha and the Second Crossing are two of my favorite short stories in the collection.
