This will spoil Wretched Waterpark (book 1) so definitely read that one first. It also has lots of loose ends and leaves many plot points open by the end.

Parental Note: This book does have a character with 2 dads mentioned and a family with 2 moms. It is not a main part of the plot.

Plot: 2/5. The 3 Sinister-Winterbottom children are dropped off at a spa by their aunt. With no guardian supervision, they must look closer to figure out what is really going on beneath the surface. There’s lots of vampire and blood puns but not much happens with the plot and too much was left unsolved.

Pacing: 2/5. This is a predominantly character driven book with medium pacing. The plot really lagged for me and made it tough to stay engaged. I liked the short chapters but I needed more answers to the mystery.

Character Development: 2/5. The characters don’t develop much in this story. I was left with a lot more questions by the end.

Overall Rating: 2/5 stars. I liked the vampire premise but the rest fell flat for me.

Mood: vampires, middle grade, bats

TW: scary thematic elements including vampires for younger audiences, one main character has anxiety and ADHD (often referred to as her “bees”)
