I really enjoyed the way this novel expanded on the world- and character-building of the first.

This book feels like a fever dream and I adore it. Definitely worth at least 2 reads.

There is a good deal of unreliable narrator, stick with it to the end, it will become clear.

An enjoyable read full of puzzles and mystery, however I don't think it's robust as a standalone book. It didn't answer many of the (burning) questions that remained from the first book, and it left me with so many more that it was a little dissatisfying, though I am biased as the one question I wanted answered
(what happened to Gideon, soul and body)
was not resolved. Despite all my complaining I really enjoyed it, a very juicy read, and I was absolutely gripped towards the last quarter of the book.
Also, 'None house left grief' was unforgivable, what actually the hell Tamsyn.

Tamsyn Muir doesn't disappoint. The perfect amount of weirdness, absurd humour, love and grief poured into the most insane magic system and intricate universe. The only reason I haven't given this 5 stars is that I felt the beginning was a little slow to pick up, but once the story fell into its rhythm I devoured the whole thing. This series has my heart.
