This book sent me reeling in the best of ways. I thought the first one was wild but this second installment is bananas. A scary, twisty, confusing, and world shattering kind of bananas. Tamsyn Muir's writing isn't going to be everyone's cup of tea but I love it. This story is complex, layered, and leaves you with more questions than were certainly ever answered. You have to pay attention and work to follow the threads that Muir weaves out in front of you. The switching perspective from 2nd to 3rd and even 1st person felt jarring at first but as you fall into the rhythm of the book it starts to make sense bit by bit.

Each piece of this story is hard won but when you see them slot themselves into place it is delightfully strange and honestly pretty mind blowing.  I know I'll be rereading this now that I know how it ends and I'm sure there is more to discover on a second read which as a reader is pretty exciting.

This book is weird and very confusing at times.  Be warned most of this book is written in second person POV which takes getting used to.  I found this book a much slower read than the first book.  Things eventually speed up at the end but it takes quite a while to get there.
