I’m still mulling this one over. Part of me HATED this, found the people really annoying, was not interested in her sexual awakening. Yet I also found the writing incredibly compelling, getting sucked in every time I picked this up. I found her self-analysis method to be very interesting as a fellow overthinker, she strikes me as someone deeply alienated from her true self, not having any clue what would make her satisfied and thus following desire blindly. I especially liked the section with her analyst, I think psychoanalysis is really interesting and helpful but also kinda bananas.

I would like to learn more about Nin’s current reputation in the canon. I associate her with edgy youth (a girl version of, like, Kerouac) but idk????
reflective medium-paced

Powerful, tortuous, and enigmatic. Anaïs Nin’s exploration of self through love, erotism and sexuality is so profoundly acute and complex.

Anaïs Nin, the woman you are. The way she describes sexuality is so illustrious but also accurate. Though I found this a bit laborious at times, overall it is a good read.

I will also always be moved by her love of all sensual things, and by the language she uses to describe her reactions to those things. Nin's diary is exquisite, fluid and profound.

Imagine not liking this book.

I cancelled social events to read more of this.

I love anais nin, at times felt like I was reading my own journal

Anaïs’ language is so beautiful and voluptuous. <3

Oh what I would give to be part of their circle of companions
