I enjoyed her grasp of the matter, she understood and dealt with the subject on a deeper level. However, I did not agree with her in many aspects, such as the religion aspect of the book. She was an atheist which one should be aware of it, because she associated this idea with anarchy. The reason why I couldn't give it a higher rating was because she got lost in her writing and talked way to long about a small trival part and forgot to come back to the main idea. The text also became dry due to the references (that I didn't know at least). It's a definitely a re-read in the future.

Very good collection of writings that sketch Emma Goldman's thoughts on various subjects, from women's rights, to schooling; from violence and the upsurge of militarism in early XX century, to the American penitentiary system or American patriotism.

She is able to put clearly her opinions in such a way that still today hold too-progressive for this society.

A hundred or so pages that pay off reading carefully.

Pretty good, though I prefer abc by berkman as an intro to anarchism

Also, this is available for free online as text (anarchist library) and as an audiobook (YouTube, librevox), so if you think you’re interested but don’t want to buy it, just read/listen to it online for free (the audiobook was a great way to pass long car rides back and forth from college)

A good intro to anarchism and fantastic albeit dated essays on the prison system and political violence.
