The entirety of this volume takes place in flashback, detailing Oliver’s boyhood on the Arno, and concluding with a cliffhanger which implies that the next volume may also be mostly flashback.

This was a fun detour from the general plotline - all about Oliver's back story. I assume that his backstory will eventually inform the present. This remains one of the best series out there.

Compared to the other graphic novels in this series, it’s definitely informative, but just a filler book.
