Holy crap, are you kidding me! It can't end like that! Oh geez, I haven't looked yet, but I am hoping the next book in the series is already out. I would say that If I Were You is Fifty Shades mixed with First 48.. Love it! Hopefully since I got on the LRJ train a little late, I won't have to wait long. In case I do, spoilers below :)

***Spoilers***
Sara is a school teacher out on vacation. Her best friend, Ella, also a school teacher is whisked away by her rich boyfriend to elope in Paris. First weird thing, Sara hears from her only once, and it's a bad connection. Ella left the items she bought from an abandoned storage building in Sara's care to sell while she's gone. Sara reads a few journals to find the lady that once owned the journals, and is surprised at what she finds. Rebecca was once a manager of an art gallery, who got sucked into the dark side of a Dom/sub relationship. All fingers point to Mark, her boss as being that guy. Sara, an art major who has a long lost passion for art that doesn't pay the bills, goes to the gallery to find out more info on Rebecca. While talking to Mark he mentions the opening, saying that Rebecca won't return until the end of summer. She offers herself for the job, and he accepts. While at the gallery she also meets Chris, super sexy, mysterious, famous painter. They hit it off, but there is clearly some tension between him and Mark. He tries to protect her from Mark, and warn her away from all of it. She insists on staying, and after a week together, she reveals her knowledge of Rebecca, and her possession of the journals. He agrees to help her find Rebecca if that's what she wants. Returning to work after a long weekend with Chris, Mark shows Sara a video feed of her and Chris kissing and tells her that the artists will use her. Chris knew the cameras were there, and he was using her to make a power play. While she is at work, he owns her and as long as everyone knows that, they won't try to take advantage of her. She flips out on Chris, and he tells her it's time for a wake up call, and takes her to the private BDSM club Mark owns. She is shocked at what she sees and tells Chris that she can't be that girl for him. He tells her that she is all he needs. She asks for time, and he just happens to be leaving town for a week. She is determined to find out more about Rebecca, and visits the storage room after work. While she is there the lights start going out, and she knows that she isn't alone. THAT'S where it ends!!!
Is it Mark?? Sometimes I think it's Chris, but Ava who works next door said Rebecca was away with an investment banker, that she met. Chris alluded that Mark was the guy in the journal Rebecca is referring to. No idea, and I can't wait to find out!

Let me start by saying this book had me from page one. It was everything I had hoped for and more, the perfect start to the Inside Out Trilogy! Sara is a school teacher who has a degree in art, which is where her heart truly lies. Her friend leaves her with a set of sexy journals that she has found in a storage unit that she bought before her and her boyfriend head to Paris to elope. Sara begins to read the journals and the content starts to concern her about what has happened to the writer Rebecca and why she has suddenly disappeared. After getting no answers by calling the art gallery where Rebecca worked, Sara decides to take matters into her own hands in order to get the information she is looking for. Not long after, she is working at the art gallery in the position that Rebecca once had and being thrust into a world of secrets and mysterious controlling men who could be Rebecca's master from her journals. As Sara begins her job at the art gallery, we are introduced to Mark her boss (Sara is convinced he is the master that Rebecca wrote of) and an artist Chris that she immediately feels a strong connection to.

Chris is dark and tortured as many artists are. He has a past filled with secrets that he is determined to keep. He is sexy and unafraid to be himself, while remaining extremely humble despite the successful career he has made for himself. The chemistry between him and Sara is off the charts, and I loved the interactions between the two of them! He is controlling one minute, but sweet the next. He finds himself losing control and revealing more than he would like to Sara as he just cannot stop himself.

Sara is a strong and independent woman. Giving up a life of wealth, she has forged her own path in order to avoid a life of being controlled by her father and his protege (her onetime fiance). Having given up her wealth in order to get away, she decides she cannot pursue a career in art and must be a teacher to support herself. When the opportunity arises to take Rebecca's place she jumps at the chance. As Sara and Chris become closer and give in to the attraction they feel for one another, she realizes that she wouldn't mind giving up some of her hesitance about being controlled, as long as its with Chris.

Overall this book was a fabulous read! I found myself not wanting to put it down for anything, even going so far as to make my husband cook me dinner because I just couldn't stop reading! My only complaint about this book is that it ends on a huge cliff hanger! I must know what happens, and it about kills me to have to wait until June to find out when the next book in the trilogy (Being Me) is released. If you haven't read this book and you are looking for a hot book filled with chemistry and mystery this is a book you wont want to miss!

WOW! This is sexy, suspenseful, intense and passionate. The story is unique and interesting. This book is dark and thrilling with drama, heartbreak and amazing romance.

Sara, the main female character, is so well developed in this book and you can really feel her passion for what she is trying to do here. She isn't naive and unlike so many other novels she has her own thoughts and feelings and knows how to use them. She is real and not fake...a pleasant surprise in a female character with dominating males as counter-parts.

The dominating males, Chris & Mark, are also not necessarily what I expect, but I am pleasantly surprised with. Chris is just enough dominating and intimidating. without being degrading. I love Chris as a character and how the author developed his past and present.

Mark is still a bit unknown, but as you get to the end of book 1 it will all become quite clear. Everything about him is inferred from the beginning, but you will get the real picture at the end.

This book does have the cliffhanger of all cliffhangers and I admit that is not my favorite thing in the world; however, with that said I will be the first in line for book 2 and I am sure 3.

Loved the story, the characters and especially the writing style. Well Done Lisa Renee Jones...cannot wait to read more of your books!

Around 70% through this book, I realized it was going to end on a cliffhanger. There were too many mysteries still developing and none of them were ready to unveil. That knowledge, in addition to the fact this is Part 1 of a trilogy, did not prepare me for the ending. Dammit to hell, the ending sucked. I want to trust this author, but too often these suspenseful buildups, and the months of waiting between books, fall frustratingly short. Please don't disappoint us, Ms. Jones. The characters are compelling, somewhat eerie in a kind of community of demanding men weighted down with dark secrets and personal agendas. I don't trust any of them, and throwing a naive Sara into that lion's den is a blunder of character-weakening proportions. Sara says she won't run. She verbally challenges Chris at every opportunity. But the first test of her bark--the video at the club--and she tails it. Grrrr. Her job, the one she stumbled upon, the one that doesn't pay the bills, is put above everything. If she doesn't find some merit by book 2, I won't be able to finish this trilogy. If Chris is genuine--verdict pending--then Sara doesn't deserve him. Honestly, I don't know what he sees in her. She's got a lot of work to do to win my sympathy, but I'll keep reading, hoping I misjudged her.

It's so interesting reading this book after a decade! When I first read it when I was 18 I was in it for the smut... Now at 28 I'm still here for the smut but also way more into the actual storyline this time

i remember next to nothing about this series so i decided to read it again. there was really nothing wrong with the book but i just wasn't really interested in rebecca or get what chris saw in sara.

he's usually dating models etc and i just don't get it. also their whole relationship was about sex and him warning her about mark.

This had me devouring every page like a junkie who couldn't satisfy the itch until i was done! Even then as the trilogy continues I was starving for more! From the start your just hooked on Rebecca's Journals as she pens in exquisite detail the torturous pleasure she's found herself wrapped in. And our girl Sara does us proud sloothing around for the mysterious vanished girl who wrote this all. It has you page turning before you know what your fingers are doing. Very good!

I loved this book! I've been wanting to read it for the longest time, hearing amazing things about it. And now I know why.

This story was intriguing an mysterious in the beginning, when Sara goes to the storage unit and thinking about this Rebecca woman. I also loved the writing style! I felt like I was in the book. I understood Sara as a character, but also as a person because of how in depth we are able to get into, not just Sara's mind, but also Chris.

Mark is another story altogether.

I want to know more about Mark and how he really fits into all this. I know the journals say much about him (maybe it is him).

I can't wait to read the next book!!
