I read this story as a Twilight fanfiction and found it as a published book when I was recommended Christina Lauren books after loving books by Abby Jimenez, Emily Henry, Taylor Reid Jenkins, Lynn Painter. Reading this book felt similar to rereading Twilight in adulthood. I remember my teenage self being enamored by this story and ate it up like it was the best thing ever written. In adulthood, I find myself enamored by how cringy it is, but can't make myself stop looking. 3 stars for the nostalgia.

Lord have mercy this was bad. The first scene between them was nightmare inducing (she's giving a presentation and he basically assaults her?) and held steady through the rest of the book. The power differential here is really aggressive and I was just SO uncomfortable. I've read several of Christina Lauren's other books and really enjoyed them, so I thought I'd try this-- just really, really traumatic, haha!
