I liked the story line...but got bored! Was skim reading by 60% :(

Loved it as the office and just as great now that it's Beautiful Bastard.

My all time favorite book boyfriend! Bennett Ryan is perfect!!

This was actually quite the pleasant surprised. I’m not saying that I absolutely loved this book, because I didn’t as a whole. But that being said, I actually really liked it. I ended up liking this a lot more than I had originally thought I would

When I started it, I was skeptical that I was actually going to enjoy this book but by the end, I was wrong. Right from the beginning, I was thrown off by the almost immediate jump into that sex. For a second, I thought it might have been a fantasy of Chloe’s that would have eventually come true. I think the thing that saved this book for me was the fact that it had the dual points of view from both Bennett & Chloe. Being able to see into their minds, especially Bennett’s made me grow to enjoy this book. I really enjoyed seeing the transformation in his mind. It brought the story to another level that otherwise would have hindered the impact of this book.

Even though I wasn’t completely sold on the plot throughout the story, I always did adore Chloe & Bennett. I thought their chemistry was fantastic & so very clearly felt coming off the pages. The only way I can think to describe it is raw & magnetic. It was constant throughout the story & is what made the premise for this story. I liked the way that they balance each other & compliment each other throughout the story. I also liked the other characters that were a part of this story, especially Bennet’s family & Chloe’s best friends.

I thought this was a good introduction into this series & even though I wasn’t absolutely blown away, I do look forward to reading the other books in the series. I’m not necessarily in a rush to get to them with the hundreds of other books I have to read, but they are added to my list for the future.

I loved the bickering.

Some stories are just meant to stay fanfiction, and that's okay.

1.5 out of 5

This book took way too long to read when it should have taken me 3 days max. It was just so...boring. If it hadn’t been for some of the concept and the sex scenes I would have dropped it. It read like a porn-without-plot fanfiction. Both Chloe and Bennet were some of the most one-dimensional characters I have ever read and considering their backgrounds, they could have been branched out so much more. Also, their chemistry was non-existent we’re it not for the sex. I couldn’t tell you for dear life why they liked one another other than because of how good they made each other feel during the sex. I have probably repeated the word “sex” so many times but that’s because that was literally the only thing that had this book going for it.

So. This is my first book by popular author-duo Christina Lauren, and of COURSE my chosen intro is straight filth (not on purpose lmao, & also meant in a good way). Enemies-to-Lovers is easily one of my fave tropes. We know this. You likely will hear me say this a million times over & idgaf, it’s like crack to me, whatever lol.

There’s plot if you squint & the characters are fine, if not a bit one-dimensional. Bennett’s an ass, but he’s ~so hot~ that it apparently doesn’t matter (until it does), & though he does grow by the end, he’s still basically an ass…. Only less* so. Chloe is smart/the perfect “right hand” to her boss, & it’s a believable enough trait highlighted throughout— but she also just can’t help being constantly d*ckmatized by Bennett. They f*ck their way to feelings & get their HEA in the most appropriate way possible given the semi-plot device of a workplace setting.

I liked how we got alternative POVs from both MCs, and I thought the inner-dialogue was pretty realistic in that it felt so unfiltered. I liked how neither of them ever really knew what the “right” thing to say or do was, and how chaotic that can feel inside one’s head. I also enjoyed this book simply bc I knew/saw it for what it was: an easy/fun read, probably w/ hella smut— and I accepted that, so it met my exact expectations. So as long as you go into this one with an open mind (+ maybe some suspension of disbelief lol), you’ll like it just fine too.

Fantastic read....even better the second time around!

I first read this as the fan-fiction The Office. I loved it. It had the right balance of storyline versus steamy sex scenes.

Beautiful Bastard was recommended to me, and I figured I'd give it a try (not knowing it was The Office remastered). By chapter 3 I was so confused because I knew what was going to happen before hand. So I asked a few groups, and they confirmed it was indeed "The Office". Thank Goodness! I thought I was going crazy! Anyway, I reread it, and loved it even more with the new character names. It was super hot and steamy, and the interaction between Bennet and Chloe were still fantastic.
