It's great to read a badass office romance where the main characters line up toe to toe with each other. Chloe never backs down from Bennett!! And Good LORD, Bennett has quite the mouth doesn't he? *Fans self*

This is only my second Christina Lauren read and I have to say I was wildly disappointed.

While I knew this book would be steamy (yay!!) I didn’t realize it was basically going to be porn with a plot(boo)! That’s fine I do enjoy books like that, but I feel like it has to be done right. Beautiful Bastard just didn’t do it for me.

Chloe and Bennett start their hate-sex relationship right away which is exhilarating and I found myself excited to see how their relationship developed into one with more depth, but that development never really happened for me.

I also ended up finding Chloe a little annoying and I felt like she over reacted about certain events that took place. Usually I love when the female character in a book stands up for herself but I found her to be whiney. I found myself looking forward to reading from Bennet’s perspective which almost never happens for me in any book I’ve read.

Overall, if you’re just looking for good smut, read this book! It’s why it got two stars instead of one from me. Overall I wasn’t a fan and definitely won’t be finishing the series.

I have mixed feeligs towards this book because the story was at the beginning so abolutely crazy that left me wonder why a strong and indipendent and intelligent and beautiful woman would allow a bastard, even handsome but an asshole, to touch her everytime they were alone. Slowly anaway thins obvioulsy change and they fall in love and ok, everybody has his happy ending, but still it was not easy to emphathize and "fall completely into the book". Anyway another easy reading that was at first a fanfiction from Twilight, that is absolutely something else eventually.

Too much over-the-top emotion to love this one.

Going into reading this one, I knew that it was originally Twilight fan fiction that was pulled to be published. I’m not gonna lie, I did actually start reading this when it was fan fiction. I didn’t read all of it, but I read part of it. Has Beautiful Bastard been changed a bit from it’s original fan fiction version The Office? Yes! Has it been changed enough that it seems like a new story? Not at all. But that’s not actually a bad thing. While I recognized the story as something that I had read before, it didn’t make me think about Twilight at all. Which is part of what made The Office so popular in the first place.

Hot from the word go, Beautiful Bastard is the story of Bennett and Chloe. Bennett and Chloe are employer and employee respectively. They also sleep together…a lot. They also seem to dislike, or at the very least annoy, one another…a lot. Thus begins our story. Beautiful Bastard dives right in. I mean, right in to the sexual relationship between the two. It almost gives the impression that you are starting the book in the middle of the story. It gives it a bit a disconnected feeling that thankfully disappears as the story progresses.

The story is told in Bennett and Chloe’s alternating view points. Normally, this drives me absolutely insane, but it actually worked for this book and didn’t leave me feeling like I was jumping back and forth from one idea to the other. The differing view points managed to give two different perspectives to the same events, while managing not to feel like a bunch of repetition.

I know a lot of people really like Bennett, but I personally really liked Chloe. I was so happy that she was not one of those doormat female lead characters who wouldn’t say s*** if she had a mouthful. All through the story, she managed to give back just a good as she gave. Was her decision making suspect? Absolutely! But speaking as someone who has worked with University students for the past 10 years, her decision making it pretty common. Bad decisions aside, it was refreshing to read about a female character with a set of cojones for a change.

While Beautiful Bastard by Christina Lauren may not end up winning the Pulitzer Prize in Fiction, it just may end up being your guilty pleasure.

I'm a huge fan of the Crossfire series, and have been looking for similar books. Beautiful Bastard was recommended over and over again, and with a high Goodreads rating I went ahead and checked it out of the library.

First of all, I brought this with me to read on my commute, and I had to stop and put it away. The word "clitoris" was used 15 pages in. There were four sex scenes in the first 100 pages. I prefer the slow burn category, and I felt like the sex suffered from telling instead of showing. I was disappointed with the book for that reason, as I didn't feel invested in the characters or their relationship.

It's readable, and I recognize that it's just not my cup of tea. I don't plan to continue the series, though I was interested in one of the side characters. Three stars.

4.5 Stars. Why did I not hear about this sooner? Loved it!

It was alright but there was just very less of a plot change and also the last 10 pages was a very random fight between the two main characters which wasn‘t necessary
