Vespera and her family are forced to leave their farm, all they know with barely the clothes on their back. The journey is hard, many don't survive it, but Vespera has a determination that is to be appreciated. Times don't start out great, but when she meets a young man, her world changes, and she finds a new direction. Loss is to come, as does with many stories, but it's what you make of that loss that makes you who you will be. Come along with Vespera and see where her story takes you.

This was a wonderful story, I can't wait to see where it goes in the next of the series, Girl in the Snow. There is some violence and PG intimacy, so great for all YA and up.

I received an ARC copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

An amazing read. This book teaches you to fight what you believe in and that the lines between good and evil become blurred when you look at the bigger picture. Vespera changes slowly throughout the book as she realises exactly what a better world may cost her. I was up reading this book till 2:30 in the morning as I simply had to know what happened and I was not disappointed. I would highly recommend this book and can not wait until the next one comes out.

I got this book directly from the author, She asked me if i was interested in reviewing her book.

Well i didnt know much about what girl in the dark was about, while i Said yes, this is not the usual book for me, because even it is a dystopian world with some tecnology, like computers, coms etc, the feeling goes much more for a wicher kind of world, with pesants, noble people, part of the resistence reminds me of Assassin's Creed.

Its not my favorite, kind of read, but that aside the characters grow even if i don't really agree how they grow, they Change and evolve, i believe people that do like to read about fantastic worlds Will love this story.

The main character vespera (funny thing, vespera in portuguese my Mother language means "the day before") and just like that vespera grows and changes during the whole book, She has a before, a during and an After, at first She sounded like a teen but we got to know She is 22, her parents are the strangest thing, the father sees a kid going through her bag and doesnt do nothing, only when She comes back with food, he says to vespera to see if She is missing something on her travel pack, the Mother gives a feeling of really absent even thou they're traveling in the woods (this is not really a spoiler because it was in the first 2/3 chapters).

This isnt the kind of book i like to read, but maybe its yours
