This book is so stupid cute!! Mateo and Evie are such sweethearts and I love when two artists get together. I think the plot was fun and the side characters were adorable. I just think the story development left a tad to be desired. The climax ended pretty fast and a few things felt unresolved. I also think the whole Sandra thing came out of the blue but whatevs. Still cute and worth the read.

I was not expecting to like this one as much as I did. I'm not a big fan of vampire or werewolf romance so this was a nice surprise.

I loved the magic system and supernaturally world of this one. It was easy to grasp but still felt nice and magical with a little spookiness (which is an added bonus of a NoLa locale). The sisters each having a certain type of magic but not necessarily being the only ones with it was nice. They're special without being unicorns.

FL was good - a little to "oh-so-quirky" at times for my taste but not overtly so. ML was good, too - the Aplha inner monologue was confusing at first (I thought it was another person for a few pages) and maybe a bit too misogynistic at times, but he's supposed to be I guess. The side characters were great and I'm glad each sister gets a standalone (which yes I do plan to read).

I think my main qualm with this one is the climax.
it's a bit too on the nose for me. First of all, of course it's her, it's the one person from his past you meet that isn't his cousin. But also the true mate cancels our other magic trope is one I just do not like so that's on me but...I wish Evie had been able to fight a bit more.

Great Halloween read for romance lovers imo - first one I've enjoyed this much that I've read.
