A good book. Not quite as gripping as Gone Girl but a few surprising twists. Didn’t like the main character but she wasn’t meant to be likeable. It’s easy to see how this book contained the formative seeds of Gone Girl.

I enjoyed this one since it kept me guessing and wondering and going. I wasn't bored. I read it very quickly and just needed to know. I finished it just now and I may have to sit and think about it for a while. I wonder if it's worth re-reading.

AMAZING!!! In my opinion, 10 times better than Gone Girl. I still cannot believe the outcome of this gut wrenching mystery. PLEASE read this now!

I had high hopes for this one. The premise of the book was really interesting to me but as it went on I just wanted it to be over…I almost DNF’d but after finishing it I kind of wish I did and just googled the ending…it was kind of a “WTF did I just read” moment. This won’t be a book I’ll be recommending as it just did not do anything for me other than make me feel like I wasted my time. This was my first book by this author and I really want to read Gone Girl so I’ll read that to hopefully redeem this one !!

Dark Places was pretty great! The narrator, Libby, is a very complicated woman in her early 30s who has grown up with a major shadow over her entire existence. That shadow has created darkness within her, but forces her to come face to face with her past and herself. I truly enjoyed this book. Gillian Flynn has a knack for murder mysteries and a true talent for surprise and blind-sides. I definitely recommend!

It took me a while to get through this book, but only because of my schedule. It was an easy book to pick up after a few days and still follow what's going on. It's quite suspenseful though, so many times it was hard to put down altogether. I plan to read "Sharp Objects" as well.

Every time I thought I had solved the mystery, had it all figured out... I didn't. Every. Single. Time. Infuriating, but also very exciting.

Solid story. Engrossing read. It's a perfect summer book.

Sort of like doing a drive-by slumming it. There was not as much uniting motifs or thematic symbolic content as I would have liked.
