Stuffed with a more than satisfying blend of history, science, social issues, a strong female protagonist, action and fantasy in a Victorian world - with dragons. Basically all I could hope for in a book. I found it an engaging and deeply facinating story of a young woman's "deranged practicality" in defying social convention and pursuing her passion for all things draconian. Good character development. No cliched or unnecessary romance tale flung in (it wouldn't have fit the main character's personality). The contrasting and clashing of cultures in aspects such as religion, history, class division, customs and language was very interisting and done in a great way that makes you think. Realistic amount of injuries, considerig their circumstances. A pleasing ending that created excitement and expectations for the next book, without it being necessary to read it to have a proper conclusion (I recommend it, though, because it's good!)

Good tale but dry and the characters are flat.  Annoying in its dealing with misogyny.
