fantastic pop history book thats backed up by a ton of sources. only docking a star due to slight derision of Natives (using terms like barbarians, calling them Stone Age savages, etc.). it wasnt super noticeable but there is a smidge of bias to be sure.

This was a hard book to read. Very graphic on brutal details of killings, captures and torture. The Comanche were a fierce people, and I am glad that I have learned more about them and their history. Another story about the unfortunate tragedies and civilizations left behind in the wake of manifest destiny.

Really great book! Super interesting story, really enjoyed the through story of Quanah and his mother through this brief but iconic part of American history.

This is a well researched and written historical account. I would add that some very graphic brutality is described, so if that might bother you, this book isn’t for you.

Horrifically gruesome and heart wrenching, but full of interesting information and life stories.

Some of the rhetoric used in this book was harmful and racist. It was interesting to learn about this area of history, but I am not interested in another account of the white perspective on “civilizing” the western US.
