The main reason why I dropped this down to three instead of four stars is that it's really not about Tod at all even tough she's supposed to be the main character. I found that weird, and I didn't really like the shift in focus to Kaznim who is pretty annoying to read about. But the writing itself is awesome, and the world still holds a lot of interest for me. Just wasn't a fan of the plot.

This was a fun book to read. There is a special place in my heart for the Septimus Heap universe, and it is so fun to read about them again as adults and side characters to a new cast. Tod is a very fun main character and I like seeing how she mirrors young Septimus with her approaches to problem solving and caring about her friends.

This was very nostalgic, despite it being the first time I have read it. I love the new setting of the desert and am curious where the story will lead to next in Book 3.

This is a Spit Fyre fan account.

I don't enjoy this series as much as Septimus Heap but it would be hard to parallel my love for that series. It comes close, though.

Definitely a fun read. More to love from Sage's original Heap series, with a fresh and - in my opinion - more entertaining - cast of characters to ride along with the old favourites.

As always, absolutely delightful!
