Moxie is a sweet, empowering, beach read. I got through it in about 2 days, and the story was engaging. The love story was super underwhelming and I couldn't figure Seth out. Was he a feminist, or trying to be cool, or trying to pick up girls? Did he hang out with the baseball boys because he was friends with them? Why did neither of them make any effort in that relationship at all?
I liked the female friendships, except the whole "Claudia and I have never had a fight" and then they still don't really have a fight. There's no resolution except Claudia got with the program, which is not always the case and it's important to show that friends can disagree and fight but still love each other fiercely.
I think this is a really good start for young people wanting to get into feminism, or wondering what they can do to change a patriarchal system.
Graphic: Misogyny and Sexism
Moderate: Sexual assault

i saw the netflix trailer and got really excited for the movie. i went down to the comments and when i found out it was a book i immediately started reading an e-book of it. i never wanted to put this book down and was very disappointed when i had to stop for class. i can’t remember feeling this intentional, specific anger from a book since i read the hate u give and that’s saying A LOT. it was a great read start to finish and i’m really excited for the movie adaptation coming out in march. seeing as amy poehler read the book i’m hoping she doesn’t diverge from the plot too much.
Graphic: Misogyny, Sexism, and Sexual assault
Moderate: Rape and Sexual assault
a student mentions their attempted rape multiple times but it’s never gone into detail on how it went down. several students goes into detail on how they were sexually assaulted and the book is about feminism so there’s a lot of misogyny that’s shown but they fight back against it
