I really enjoyed the love hate thing going on between Alexandra and Vasili. It was fun reading his story I always wondered what type of girl it would take to get him to finally settle down and Alex was perfect.

This is the sequel to [b:Once a Princess|419280|Once a Princess (Cardinia's Royal Family, #1)|Johanna Lindsey|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1268443278s/419280.jpg|408425], centering on Vasili from that story. He's a known womanizer being forced to marry a hoyden of a girl named Alex. So what do they both decide to do? Act like spoiled brats and do everything possible to make them undesirable to the other person so that they'll cry off and the arranged marriage is ended. They have a month long journey in which to accomplish this, and yet they spend most of the time being nasty to one another, leaving little time to get to know one another and fall in love. I think it is simply the fact that Alex needs to be rescued that changes their minds about one another. There really wasn't much romance between the two, and their arguing and petty games got old quickly. I'll probably keep it for nostalgia's sake, but won't re-read it often, if at all.

I had high hopes from this one….
The beginning was interesting enough to get me reading further but almost 70% of the book was the hero being his horny angry self and a violent possessive heroine. I didn’t feel the sparks or any chemistry between them throughout.

typical JL book. it's too bad she cant do more with her interesting characters beyond the ususal--eg, H&H are both gorgeous (one good line was herioines comment to hero that "he was prettier than she was".

Wow this was great. Humor, sass, and of course a good dash of romance. An oldie but a goodie.

An arranged marriage, enemies to lovers historical romance set in the fictional Cardinia, between Alex, an unladylike baroness who spends most of her time with her horses, and Vasili, one of the king's bodyguards and a well-known womanizer.
Both Alex and Vasili are surprised when they are told about their father's betrothal agreement for the two of them,.
Neither of them are happy about it and they are determined to break it, but neither feels that they can call it off, since it's a matter of honor for both of them. Instead, they do their best to get the other to cry off by being their worst selves around each other on the long journey to the capital, where their marriage is supposed to take place.
They might not want to marry, but the attraction between them is undeniable, and they end up falling for one another before they reach their destination. Unfortunately,
Vasili, who has decided he wants to marry her, betrothal or not, runs after her and manages to find her just in time, since she was ready to marry someone else to protect the child she's carrying.
A fun story with a couple locked in a battle of wills that lasts nearly until the very end of the book, where they eventually get their happily ever after.

What a quick read! The only thing I would change is that I wish it had more sex scenes haha. But that tension was perfect.
