What a spicy lil masquerade ball! 🥵🥵🥵 Oops I caught feelings x2. Katherine can step on me. Preston was a first-class knob, but he wins  points for excellent bedroom skills and (finally) supporting Katherine. Could have used 25% more groveling. Preston didn’t suffer enough for me.

i’ve never read a book with a character that felt more me. Kat loved and felt everything with her whole heart, every single emotion you could feel with her on the page. Preston, on the other hand, was stupid and i couldn’t stand him. Me identifying with Kat and my love for her is what made this a five star read for me. What I didn’t like about Preston was his inability to see and feel things from other people’s points of view, mainly Kat’s, even after multiple people tried to help him do that. He seemed very short sighted to me. Overall, I do really love this series and I can’t wait to pick up the new one in a couple weeks

I love to see a woman say screw this guy and then go and have a wild time - and that is exactly what Katherine does! She takes control of her life and goes out to have fun. And she totally does! Unfortunately along the way she also finds her almost fiancĂ© and some pesky feelings… Preston is also great! So intense - and also needs a hug! His bafflement at his “O am not jealous behavior” is hilarious and heartwarming. (He is genuinely confounded by this!) He is going through his own grief and processing what success really means for him. And it is all amazing to watch. He also grovels and cooks and has some great grand gestures that are always a good time.

But what really sold me on this read was their genuine chemistry and friendship. Preston has to learn to listen and Katherine has to learn not to defend her worth - and together they have to learn that vulnerability and true intimacy go together.
