This story started with a broken engagement and a “one day you’ll regret this” declaration, and I was HOOKED from page 1 right to the very end.

Katherine is one of the best FMCs I’ve read in a while — sweet but vivacious, and although her emotions got the best of her at times, she also had moments of self-reflection and maturity. And Preston! Gosh I wanted to slap him and his win-at-all-costs mentality at times, but only because I wanted the best for Katherine. There was a line she said in their final confrontation that hit me so hard.

The steam in this book was also quite something, and Katherine and Preston’s chemistry was smoking. 🔥 Joanna Shupe sure knows how to write a steamy scene.

I could write a whole dissertation about why I loved this book, but I’m gonna finish off with some emojis: 🤭🥵😍😭😍😍.

P.S. The audiobook was fantastic. Adding Kit Swann to my list of favourite narrators too.

Was I reading a different book from everyone else? I keep seeing reviews mention great prose and sizzling chemistry. Where were they, pray tell??

The writing was average veering towards amateur and repetitive when trying to describe emotions. The "chemistry" was just insta-lust.
