A really good Reacher novel. Page turning action, detective work, solid story and fun characters. It unfolds and unwinds in a super satisfying way.
I enjoyed this installment of the Jack Reacher series. I did have problems with picturing Tom Cruise as Reacher since I saw the movie adaptation first. Cruise is NOT Reacher, a 6'5", 250 lb former soldier. As usual with a book, the characterizations and explanation of motives is a lot deeper than the movie showed. I look forward to reading the next Reacher novel as I am reading the series in order.
This one was fun to re-read in comparison to the movie.
Solid installment with all the basic ingredients. Reacher walks (literally!) into a new place where there’s a mystery. There is maybe more of the unspoken understandings than the other installments I’ve read, where people pick up on his cryptic comments and play along perfectly, in a way that I think is rare. All the misdirections are good—you know the main villain but there are plenty of other questions.
Still, it can be a bit much, like when he and a reporter start quoting Orwell to each other.
As always, there is plenty of carnage. Hard to imagine how he is able just to bail at the end (this is not a spoiler since he always bails at the end).

I really enjoyed this one. I liked that this lead off with Reacher there to prove guilt rather than innocence. Why only three stars then? My gripe with this was how they framed Barr. Lee Child offers one model and I found that one to be much more palatable than the actual truth. I understand that it had to be the latter rather than the former because it would have been damn near impossible to disprove, but I wish Child had figured a way around that because it just didn't sit right with me. Now, if he hadn't posited that initial idea, I probably wouldn't have come up with it but once it got in my head, I really preferred it. Otherwise, a typical Reacher book. Quick, easy, enjoyable read.
While faithful to the formula he established in the first Jack Reacher novel, this is one of the better books in the series. Better than the movie.
Ik heb het idee dat ik hem al eerder gelezen heb, maar kan er geen bewijs voor vinden.
Spannend en het einde was ik vergeten, dus geen probleem :P

was an ok book...but I have read better books by Lee Child....hope the movie is better!
Pretty good mystery, well crafted as per usual.
I also felt very well learned when the first episode of season 2 referred to this case!

Terrific read! My first by this author - can't wait to read more & am looking forward to the movie! (even if Tom Cruise is Jack). Very well written!
