This is the second book in the trilogy and I honestly did not expect it to go this way! It surprised me but it was still really good! I really like the characters and it was nice to see Saraya learn more about her powers. It was also nice to learn more about Drake and how he grew up, why he is who he is..
A lot of crazy things happened in this book.
And that ending 🤯 I'm reaaaally glad I can immediately start reading the next book! Because I need some answers!!

Well, this was rather disappointing…
I was so excited to read this after the first book, but what in the ever loving god was this?????
I don’t know what happened, but the writing in this did not match with the first book, or maybe I just hallucinated and imagined the whole first book.
Then both main characters totally annoyed me. While Drake was the ever brooding and possessive morally grey MMC in the first book, in this one, he still was the possessive morally grey one, but not in a good way in my opinion. All his chapters were basically only „my mate here, my mate there, and I’m such a monster“ like stfu, seriously, that was too much. Don’t get me wrong, I love fated mates, but not if the character constantly says I need to claim her or even tells it to the FMC directly. No, get out of here…
Then Saraya…. She was basically the same for 50% of the book which I loved, but then… 🙄 I don’t want to say it because it‘s huge spoiler, but just no. She did a 50% turn of what she was originally saying and I missed an explanation for this behavior. Also the whole warrior midwife and member of the Order of Temari was basically missing in this book. We had two interactions with Arishnie and that was it. And while I can understand that the plot went into a different direction and there was no time to do more „midwifing“, Saraya did get more powers after those two interactions and she didn’t even have to train anymore. She got the powers and was immediately able to control them. Where was the character development?
I also missed the side characters 😢 they weren’t there anymore, which was a shame because I really liked Lysander and Slade…
Not even the spice was convincing in the end!!!
Ugh, despite my rant, I will continue reading the last book because I am already too deep in and hopefully the third book will improve again.

The first book had such a strong start but this did not keep going the way I wanted. It first felt slow then too fast and then no plot upholding it and the characters weren’t the most interesting. I didn’t dislike it but I was ready for it to be done

Another great book in the series, with fantastic characters and interesting world building! The editing could use more work and sometimes some of the characters' actions felt like they didn't make a tonne of sense but overall it was a good read 😊

This was a good continuation of the Warrior Midwife series. Definitely good character growth as the MC comes more into her power and role as both a midwife and princess of her kingdom. I also really appreciated the movement forward in her relationship with Drake. Definitely a little spicier then the previous book.

Overall this was a good read and I look forward to the next one!

It was nice to see the characters grow closer. Obviously influenced by Acotar series but did a great job bringing fresh material and not just recycling. I had hoped to get a little more development of side characters such as Lysander, Slade, Daxian and others, but it seems that is coming in book 3!
