The intrigue disappeared. I don't recall if the writing in the first book was so bland but it was written in a very staccato type of way. I did this. I thought this. Completely different thought. It just made me lose interest.

I love the premise and storyline so much! Midwifery? Feminine rage? I'm here for it! But the writing is just... not good. It's very juvenile and unpolished. I think the dialog is the worst. I obviously read book one and continued to book two, but it's only gotten worse. I want to know what happens in the story, but I'm not sure if I want to slog through another 300 pages

two stars because the premise/plot is interesting and I like most of the characters too.
this book is in desperate need of an editor. the first book had some issues but the difference in quality between the first and second is bananas. missing words, random punctuation (or none at all!), and mad typos in character names had me wanting to tear out my hair and throw my kindle across the room. unfortunately for me I cannot stop something once I start it so I will be reading the third book. fingers crossed the editor was sober for this next one.
