This book definitely goes over some accurate habits (called me out with some of them) but I wish each habit chapter had concrete suggestions on how to improve on each habit, rather than a generic few chapters on how to address them at the end.

Great read for any woman who wants to move forward not only in her career, but her life too. This book helped me grow more self-aware of the habits I’ve picked up over the years that helped me early on, but might not be the most beneficial moving forward. I appreciated the authors’ intellectual understanding of how habits work and shape our lives and their emphasis that we are not our habits.

Great read for women in corporate environments and academia. These 12 habits cover common psychological tendencies in women (Jean Baker Miller’s Toward A New Psychology Of Women covers much of this) and how they manifest in the workplace. Sally Helgelsen discusses the ways these can benefit us and hold us back and gives some practical advice on how to overcome the drawbacks. A good read and a nice exercise in self reflection. I don’t usually like self-help books of this nature but there’s enough academic context to support her suggestions that it doesn’t feel like a “boss babe guidebook”.  I now follow Sally’s work on LinkedIn and other platforms, highly recommend that!!
